14 March 1879 – Albert Einstein was born, the son of
a Jewish electrical engineer in Ulm, Germany. Einstein’s
theories of special and general relativity drastically
altered man’s view of the universe and his work in particle
and energy theory helped make possible quantum mechanics
and, ultimately, the atomic bomb.

March 1931 – The first sound film of India Alam Ara was
released. It was directed by Ardeshir Irani. The film was so
popular that they actually had to get the police to control
the crowd along with the theatre. The film ran house-full
for more than 8 weeks after its release. Sadly, there are no
more known copies of the movies that have survived.
Pi Day: This day is celebrated internationally as Pi Day
because the date (3/14) resembles the first three digits of
the mathematical constant π (pi).
